The SASRS will be held from September 10th-13th, 2017 in the seaside town of Hermanus, South Africa. We invite academics and students from Africa – and overseas groups who have previously conducted research on Chondrichthyans in Africa – to attend this exciting gathering of likeminded colleagues from around the continent.
The 4th SASRS will consist of keynote lectures, research poster sessions, networking opportunities, workshops, and public outreach events. In addition to the Symposium programme, we will provide Delegates with numerous discounted tour options to ensure you make the most of your stay in the beautiful Western Cape region. Early bird registration will open on 1st January 2017 and will close on 1st May 2017. Late registration will run from 2nd May 2017 until 14th August 2016. Meaghen McCord Gary
Meaghen is the Founder & Research Director at the South African Shark Conservancy. Meaghen is a member of the IUCN Shark Specialist Group, South African Shark Advisory Group, and serves as the Chair for the 4th Southern African Shark & Ray Symposium.
Treasurer & Logistics Co-Ordinator
Tamzyn is the Chief Operations Officer at the South African Shark Conservancy where she acts as the Principle Investigator for the SASC RecFishSA project & oversees day-to-day operational management at the SASC Research Facility. Tamzyn is the Treasurer and Logistics Coordinator for the 4th Southern African Shark & Ray Symposium
Natalia is the Intern Coordinator & Lab Manager at the South African Shark Conservancy. She assists with managing day-to-day field operations and oversees equipment maintenance & human resources management. Natalia is the Secretary & Administrative Officer for the 4th Southern African Shark & Ray Symposium
Logistics & Permits
Tracy is the Special Projects Manager with the Overstrand Municipality. Tracy is assisting with logistical planning, support & permits on behalf of the Overstrand Municipality for the 4th Southern African Shark & Ray Symposium.

Pierre is the Programme Manager of the CapeNature Coastal Programme & Coordinator of the Western Cape Estuaries Programme. Pierre is assisting with logistical planning, support & permits on behalf of CapeNature for the 4th Southern African Shark & Ray Symposium.
